The Alaska State Fair has completed the lineup of its AT&T Concert Series for three weekends in August and September. The final announcement is comedian Nate Bargatze, joining a slate of a dozen musical acts for just about every taste.

Something for Everybody

Billed as “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up,” Bargatze is known for relatable comedy suitable for all age groups. The stand-up from Nashville, Tennessee, has more than ten appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and hosts the weekly podcast “Nateland.”

Bargatze takes the ConocoPhillips Borealis Stage on Saturday, August 26, at 7 p.m., rounding out the 2023 line-up.

The concert series begins the previous weekend, with Turnpike Troubadours, Noah Kahan, and FOR KING + COUNTRY appearing on August 19, 20, and 21.

The fair’s middle weekend starts early on Thursday, August 24, with Blues Traveler, Flogging Molly, Home Free, and Yung Gravy each taking a night through Monday.

The concert series concludes Thursday, August 31, through Monday, September 4, with performances by J Boog, Megadeth, The String Cheese Incident, Little River Band, and Noah Cyrus.

Aiming to satisfy all sorts of music fans, fair organizers invited a variety of acts ranging from Christian pop, pop-country, and country-rock to folk-rock, folk-punk, and heavy metal.

Noah Kahan adds the flavor of folk-infused pop, with fluttering guitar melodies and vocals that invoke the imagery of his Vermont home. For a vocal-only version of country, Home Free performs Nashville hits and standards a capella.

KFAT is presenting rapper Yung Gravy, the artist behind platinum-selling singles “Mr. Clean” and “1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot,” and reggae singer J Boog, who blends his Polynesian roots with Caribbean sounds.

The String Cheese Incident is a psychedelic jam band from the ‘90s, and Little River Band recalls classic rock from the ‘70s. The Australian combo scored hits with “Reminiscing” and “Lonesome Loser” and released a new studio album as recently as 2020.

Concerts take place at the ConocoPhillips Borealis Theatre on the fairgrounds in Palmer, rain or shine. Tickets are on sale at alaskastatefair.org, for concerts alone or bundled with admission to the fair.
