Alaska State Fair Lines Up First Six 2023 Concerts

Tickets are on sale now for the AT&T Concert Series at the 2023 Alaska State Fair. Organizers have announced six acts for the lineup so far, spanning three weekends. Aiming to satisfy music fans of all tastes, the performers range from Christian pop, pop-country, and country-rock to folk-rock, folk-punk, and heavy metal.

First Batch

Saturday, August 19: Turnpike Troubadours. Since their debut in 2005, the Oklahoma-based band has released four studio albums, cracking the Top 10 Independent Albums chart in 2012 with Goodbye Normal Street. The Turnpike Troubadours and A Long Way from Your Heart both peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

Monday, August 21: for KING + COUNTRY. A pair of brothers from Australia who grew up in Nashville, for KING + COUNTRY has been awarded four Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and ten Dove awards. The duo has had two albums in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and eleven #1 songs.

Thursday, August 24: Blues Traveler. Their 1993 hit, “Run-Around,” is the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history and earned the band their first Grammy. Their 2021 album, Travelers Blues, earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues’ Album. The band’s latest release, Live and Acoustic: Fall of 1997, is due out in spring 2023.

Friday, August 25: Flogging Molly. Starting out as the house band for Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles, the band has become a staple in the punk scene over the past twenty years. Last September, the band released their seventh full-length album, Anthem, which quickly rose to Top 10 positions on the Billboard Americana/Folk, Alternative, Independent, and Rock albums charts.

Friday, September 1: Megadeth, the pioneers of American thrash metal, have sold more than 38 million albums worldwide and earned a 2017 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.

Monday, September 4: Noah Cyrus, the youngest daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, scored a hit with her debut single “Make Me (Cry)” in 2016 at age 16. Nominated in 2020 for Best New Artist Grammy, Cyrus released her first full-length album, The Hardest Part, last fall.

More acts for a full Alaska State Fair lineup have yet to be announced.

Concerts take place at the ConocoPhillips Borealis Theatre on the fairgrounds in Palmer, rain or shine. Tickets are on sale at alaskastatefair.org, for concerts alone or bundled with admission to the fair.
