KPMG Promotes Three at Anchorage Office

The only “Big Four” accounting firm with a presence in Alaska, KPMG, promoted three professionals at its Anchorage office.

Al Asuncion

Al Asuncion is now Tax Manager. Asuncion joined KPMG in 2022 and has experience in tax compliance focused on Alaska Native corporations. He also provides consulting services to companies in the technology and media industries. A graduate of UAA, Asuncion holds a master’s degree in business taxation and data analytics from the University of Southern California.

Joye Sumner

Joye Sumner becomes Audit Manager while also co-chairing KPMG’s Asian Pacific Islander Business Resource Group, leading cultural and professional development opportunities for colleagues and allies. Sumner brings five years of accounting experience with Alaska Native corporations and retail organizations, and she has worked in greenhouse gas assurance. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UAA and master’s degree in accounting from Gonzaga University.

Tyler VanAusdal

Tyler VanAusdal is promoted to Audit Manager. VanAusdal joined KPMG in 2020 and provides audit services to a variety of clients, including government agencies and Alaska Native corporations. His industry experience includes construction, government contracting, and investments. VanAusdal earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University. He lives in Eagle River with his wife and three children.
