Advertising agency Spawn Ideas added new staff as leadership adapts to the impending retirement later this year of CEO Karen King. “These leadership announcements are part of our planned path of evolution as our business grows to meet new demands,” says Spawn Ideas President Kaylee Devine. Fifty years after its founding in Anchorage, Spawn Ideas was acquired last year by employee-owned Strategic America of West Des Moines, Iowa, through its Bore Tide One Source subsidiary.

Codie Costello returns to Spawn Ideas as Director of Account Management, leading the client relationship and strategy team. Costello ended a seven-year tenure as president of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts last year. She holds an MFA degree from The New School in New York City and is a life coach and member of the International Coaching Federation.

Kathy Norford

Long-time Spawn Vice President, Media Director Kathy Norford moves into a new role as Vice President, Client Strategy & Growth. In her new role, Norford leads priority media-driven accounts, guides agency growth, and serves as a senior advisor and educator for media across the agency. Norford holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Richmond and an MBA in marketing from the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business.

April Cook is promoted to Vice President, Project Management and Operations, from her previous role on the executive team as Director, Client Services. In this role, Cook expands her leadership across agency operations, including management of tools and systems supporting continuous process improvement. A twenty-three-year veteran of the agency, Cook is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams, previously Creative Lead and Director of Social and Digital Engagement, is promoted to Creative Director. In this expanded role, she leads creative concepting and strategy and manages the creative team and contractors, overseeing copywriting, graphic art, and video and audio assets. A fourteen-year Spawn veteran, Adams is a social media expert and Alaska influencer who graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
