Altman, Rogers & Co. was honored with the 2020 Better Business Bureau Tier 2 Torch Award for Ethics in Alaska.

The Torch Awards is the Better Business Bureau’s annual awards program that publicly recognizes those organizations that exemplify a standard of conducting business that is transparent and ethical. To win the award is an honor in and of itself, but to do so in a year that has radically changed the world and inevitably, how business is done, is even more monumental.

“As a CPA firm we are extremely honored to receive the prestigious Torch Award. This award exemplifies everything we stand for as a business: social responsibility, high standards of organizational ethics, and leadership. This award speaks to our mission to provide our clients a high level of service while constantly giving back to the communities we serve and providing a rewarding and challenging work environment for our staff. With all of the challenges that this year has brought, we are humbled to be selected to receive this award,” says firm CEO Grant R. Todd.

Alaska Native regional, village, and urban corporations operate in every industry all around the state, often in regions that don’t attract attention from other corporations. Our cover story for December 2025 is an excellent example, as it covers the investment Aleut is making in its region, Unangam Tanangin, or the Aleutian Islands, which stretch 1,000 miles into the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean. The Alaska Native special section also visits Kodiak and the handful of corporations benefiting that region, and looks back over fifty years of ANCSA corporation history and how the corporations have built, maintained, and strengthened communications and relationships with their shareholders.
