R&M Consultants added an Environmental Specialist to the firm’s Earth Sciences Department. In this role, Lauren Jennings is responsible for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) impact analysis and document preparation, regulatory permitting, environmental field surveys (invasive species, wetlands, eagle nests, et cetera), storm water management, and other related office and field-based environmental services as needed.

Jennings has twelve years of geoscience and environmental experience. She specializes in geologic investigations through geophysics and geochemistry, cultural resource mitigation, stormwater pollution prevention, regulatory compliance within many environmental investigations, and a variety of deliverables for lead agencies. She has worked closely with tribal entities on brownfield projects, landfills, and potentially contaminated land intended for reuse. Jennings has also worked on airport improvement projects, large mines, and public and private clients in Alaska. She brings experience in guidance documents, including stormwater, cultural resources, permitting, and contaminated site cleanup.

“I’m enthusiastic about working at R&M because of the growth potential within the realm of permitting and NEPA documentation,” says Jennings. “I also really enjoyed the culture and professionalism here. Everyone is so welcoming and nice! I hope to continue working with Alaskan communities that need assistance to create a better environment for future generations.”

Jennings has a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and master’s degree in geology, both from the University of Arkansas. She is a certified erosion and sediment control lead.

“Lauren is a great addition to the Environmental Group and the R&M team,” says Kristi McLean, R&M’s Group Manager of Environmental Services. “Her varied background, including archaeology and anthropology, is a great match for the support we provide our clients. I’m looking forward to the fresh perspective and new insight she brings.”
