UA Interim President Pat Pitney announced the appointment of Interim Chancellor Karen Carey as permanent chancellor for the University of Alaska Southeast. Carey has served as the UAS interim chancellor since July, succeeding former Chancellor Rick Caulfield who retired in June.

Before accepting the position as interim chancellor, Carey served as UAS provost. She joined UAS as provost in 2016.
