AES Welcomes New Associate Recruiter
Alaska Executive Search welcomes its newest Associate Recruiter, Hannah Markwood. Markwood isn’t new to AES as an employee—before joining the recruitment team, Hannah served as temporary staff working for a number of clients and always received positive feedback. She quickly learned the ropes and was hired on as a fulltime AES Associate Recruiter this past spring.
Markwood is a lifelong Alaskan and is frequently found exploring the state, flying planes, and reeling in the big catch for her fishing clients. She also works seasonally in commercial fishing. Markwood is a top recruiter: she can set a net, lure in the talent, and send them flying toward to success.

In mid-May it was 19°F and windy at the Aurora Hotel in Deadhorse. As I stood in the parking lot surveying the surroundings, I chatted with a gentleman from Texas who works for Nabors Alaska Drilling and was in town as part of a crew tasked with getting a previously inactive drill rig up and running. He said that, according to his supervisor, spring is the windy season on the North Slope. The gusts were bracing, numbing the fingers holding my camera, but most of my attention was focused on what I could capture through the lens: work trucks, shipping containers, buildings obscured by snow whipped up by the wind.
