Alaska Communications added Yasir Alvi to its executive team as Chief Financial Officer. His experience spans multiple sectors, including security, transportation, logistics, and technology.

Prior to joining Alaska Communications, Alvi served as CFO of Guardian Security Systems, where he led finance and operations teams through a period of transformative growth. Alvi started his career in software engineering at Microsoft Corporation, leading teams building commercial software for customers worldwide. This was followed by fifteen years of leadership roles in finance, including investment banking and mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and financial planning analysis at Alaska Airlines.

Alvi graduated with honors from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and he earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with honors, concentrating in finance.

Alaska Communications, the former Anchorage telephone utility, is an affiliate of Massachusetts-based ATN International and operates a robust and advanced statewide fiber network and a diverse undersea fiber optic system.
