ANCHORAGE—The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (Trust) has listed for sale a 2.9-acre parcel of waterfront property in Juneau’s visitor industry corridor. The land for sale is located at Egan Drive and Whittier Street, a prime location for a tourism-related business. The parcel has a minimum bid of $3,634,000, which is the recently appraised value.

The sale is being handled by the Trust Land Office, a state agency that manages land assets owned by the Trust. Revenue generated from land and other assets pay for programs that support Trust beneficiaries across the state. Beneficiaries include people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance related disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia and traumatic brain injury.

“This parcel of land has great potential for residential, boutique hotel, and/or ground floor retail development as well as for other tourism related facilities,” said Wyn Menefee, Trust Land Office Executive Director. “We are excited to offer this unique waterfront development opportunity, and to use sale proceeds to support the work of the Trust.”

Sealed bids must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Trust Land Office in Anchorage (2600 Cordova St, Anchorage, AK 99503). Bids will be accepted from August 15 until September 6, 2019. A $100,000 deposit in the form of a cashier’s check must accompany the bid. More information, including bidding instructions and property documents can be found at juneauwaterfrontparcel.com.
