New Boss for iHeartMedia Stations in Alaska and Hawai’i
The iHeartMedia family of radio stations in Alaska has a new boss. Effective October 1, Kim Williams is promoted from Market President of the Fairbanks cluster to oversee all ten stations in the Alaska market as Area President. Her responsibilities also include overseeing seven stations in Honolulu.
The iHeartMedia cluster in Anchorage includes KASH, KBFX, KENI, KGOT, KTZN, and KYMG. The four stations in Fairbanks are KAKQ, KFBX, KIAK, and KKED. In the Honolulu market, iHeartMedia operates five FM radio stations, two HD2 subchannels, and two AM stations, plus live events and digital platforms.
“I am grateful to iHeart and thrilled for the opportunity to work with these incredible markets,” Williams says. “Alaska and Hawai’i are two of the most diverse, extreme, and beautiful states. I’m incredibly proud to learn from and contribute to our amazing teams in Honolulu, Fairbanks, and Anchorage.”
Williams is a graduate of Baylor University and UAF with a master’s degree in professional communication. She began her career in radio sales as an account executive for Pacific Star AM/FM in Anchorage; by the time it became Clear Channel Communications, she was sales manager. Another name change to iHeartMedia followed her move to Fairbanks.
As Area President, Williams reports to iHeartMedia Division President Dan Lankford in Pennsylvania. “I have had the privilege of working with Kim over the past four years while she served as Market President for Fairbanks,” Lankford says. “I’m excited to see Kim’s passion and experience expand to all of the iHeartMedia stations across the entire Alaska and Hawai’i area.”
Williams takes over for Andy Lohman, who announced this summer he was retiring to seek a warmer climate in Nevada. Starting in radio sales in 1982, Lohman spent more than thirty-five years with the Anchorage cluster. Also retiring this summer was Mark Murphy, a prominent on-air personality in Anchorage and, as Senior Vice President of Programming, Lohman’s lieutenant. A successor to that position has yet to be named.
