The executive leadership team at Credit Union 1 (CU1) now includes Ben Craig as Chief Administrative Officer. In this role, Craig leads strategic initiatives and oversees key projects, ensuring CU1 continues to grow and innovate.

“With three new branch openings and several other big projects planned for 2025, the experience Ben brings to our team will help us better manage the workload and bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the table,” says CU1 President and CEO Mark Burgess. The financial co-op opened locations in Kotzebue, Wasilla, and Skagway in the first half of this year.

As a US Air Force veteran with a résumé that spans government, technology, finance, sales, and marketing, Craig has diverse experience that allows him to approach complexities with a well-rounded perspective and adaptability. He has served as a corporate officer for more than eighteen years across various industries and earned a reputation for strategic vision, tactical guidance, and thoughtful analysis.

As an Alaskan himself, Craig understands and respects the state’s unique landscape and the needs of its communities. His expertise in project management, business enablement, and data analytics will play a pivotal role in advancing CU1’s mission to serve its members.

The Alaska Native special section also visits Kodiak and the handful of corporations benefiting that region, and looks back over fifty years of ANCSA corporation history and how the corporations have built, maintained, and strengthened communications and relationships with their shareholders.
