A staffer at Nortech—an environmental, energy, health, and safety services firm with offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau—received certification from the US Environmental Protection Agency as a Lead-Based Paint Inspector. The credential allows Environmental Staff Professional Janine Way to conduct paint inspections across federally administered sites.

Way joined Nortech in 2023 and has supported numerous site assessments, spill prevention and countermeasure plans, demolition air quality monitoring, and hazardous material sampling.

Way earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at UAF. She has prior professional experience with quality control, hazardous materials, and safety compliance, and while at Nortech she completed asbestos abatement training. The company says her lead-paint certification expands Nortech’s capacity to support safe building renovation and remediation projects.
