Multidiscipline consulting engineering firm Coffman Engineers has a new licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Patrick Rider, part of the firm’s electrical engineering team, adds the certification to his diverse qualifications.

Rider earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from UAF. He holds an MBA with an emphasis in leadership from UAA.

Prior to working at Coffman, Rider applied his managerial and engineering skills in oil and gas services, overseeing a team to bring directional drilling and formation evaluation technology to exploration and production companies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rider turned his attention to public service, directing the Municipality of Anchorage’s testing and vaccine operations. As the needs of the pandemic shifted, he assisted the State of Alaska’s project managers to develop more efficient processes for grant tracking and reporting requirements.

As a part of Coffman’s electrical engineering team, Rider contributed to oil and gas facilities, battery storage, and dormitories for the National Park Service. His experience also extends to fire protection equipment inventory management for medical facilities in rural Alaska.

“Patrick’s achievement of the PE license is a reflection of his hard work, technical proficiency, and commitment to professional development. Coffman is proud to have Patrick as part of our team and we look forward to his continued contributions to our projects and clients,” says Coffman Electrical Principal Nicholai Smith.
