Iḷisaġvik College Seeks New President

Alaska’s only tribal college located in Utqiaġvik, (Barrow), America’s northernmost municipality, has an opportunity for an educational leader at Iḷisaġvik College, one of the top ten community colleges in the nation.

Reporting to the board of trustees, the president provides overall leadership and direction to staff and faculty to assure effective running of the college. The president is responsible for leadership and strategic vision, community relations, board relations and development, and financial management, and administration of the college; they ensure alignment with the college’s vision of building strong communities through education and training while supporting traditional Iñupiat values of:

The president works collaboratively with the college’s executive team members and its board of trustees. This skilled and strategic professional will be well-versed in managerial, fiscal, and pedagogical best practices of higher education. A Master’s Degree is required and a Doctorate is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who possess an understanding of Indigenous learning styles and pedagogy and who have knowledge of, and experience within, the North Slope Borough.
