Joint ventures on a commercial project are one thing; joint ventures involving shared office space and partnerships in a new region of the state are quite another. Cornerstone General Contractors, known as a statewide builder and partner on Southeast projects, is teaming up with Juneau-based Alaska Commercial Contractors, Inc. (ACC) to offer Southeast clients a broader range of options.

Fourth Regional Hub

Cornerstone opened its first Southeast regional office on July 14, inside ACC’s headquarters at 10221 Glacier Highway in Juneau. The new office serves as Cornerstone’s operational hub for projects throughout Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Petersburg, and surrounding communities.

This marks Cornerstone’s first permanent presence in Southeast and its fourth regional location statewide, adding to its thirty-two-year footprint in Alaska, including its headquarters in Anchorage, Interior regional office in Fairbanks, and Northwest regional office in Nome. Cornerstone is a privately held Alaska general contractor employing more than 100 professionals statewide. Past projects include the UAA Alaska Airlines Center, the South Peninsula Hospital expansion project, and the Northern Pacific Airways North Terminal renovation.

“Our team has partnered with project owners in Southeast Alaska for decades, so launching a permanent office inside ACC’s facility is the natural next step in giving people their best construction experience,” says Cornerstone President Joe Jolley. “By combining Cornerstone’s three decades of building expertise with ACC’s deep local knowledge, we will deliver projects faster, more safely, and with even greater community benefit.”

ACC was founded in 2007 and delivers design-build, vertical and civil construction, and specialty concrete services across Southeast. The company’s notable projects include a design/build project to expand the Juneau Masonic Center, an extensive renovation of Stedman Elementary School in Petersburg, and an interior renovation of the Delta Air Lines area within Juneau International Airport.

“ACC has proudly served southeast Alaska since 2007. Sharing office space with Cornerstone strengthens our shared mission to keep our Southeast commercial, civic, and remote construction work in the hands of hardworking Alaskans,” adds ACC President Doug Courtney.

Alaska Native regional, village, and urban corporations operate in every industry all around the state, often in regions that don’t attract attention from other corporations. Our cover story for December 2025 is an excellent example, as it covers the investment Aleut is making in its region, Unangam Tanangin, or the Aleutian Islands, which stretch 1,000 miles into the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean. The Alaska Native special section also visits Kodiak and the handful of corporations benefiting that region, and looks back over fifty years of ANCSA corporation history and how the corporations have built, maintained, and strengthened communications and relationships with their shareholders.
