Afognak Acquires Weaver Bros. Family of Trucking Companies

A subsidiary of Afognak Native Corporation acquired a majority interest in a cluster of trucking, fuel, and logistics companies serving customers statewide. Afognak Commercial Group is grouping Weaver Bros., Doyle’s Fuel Service, and Doyle Transport under a new parent company named Afognak-Weaver Logistics, LLC.
Eighty-Year Reputation
Founded in 1946 and owned by the Doyle family since 1978, Weaver Bros. provides heavy haul, fuel, and refined product transport, drayage, dry bulk, refrigerated, and specialized freight services to construction, energy, mining, retail, and government customers across Alaska.
“Weaver Bros. has spent over seventy years earning its reputation as one of the most trusted names in Alaska freight, and that reputation belongs to the people who built it,” says Afognak CEO Dan Corbett. “We’re investing in a proven Alaska business, not changing it. This is long-term investment that strengthens our commercial portfolio and our foundation for Afognak shareholders for generations to come.”

The companies will continue operating under their existing names, with James “Jimmy” Doyle remaining with the companies as president and with the same team serving customers and partners.

Together, we’re focused on growth, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future.”
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The investment expands Afognak’s presence in Alaska’s energy, infrastructure, and logistics sectors and advances Afognak’s strategy of growing its commercial business alongside its government services portfolio.
