Access Alaska Hires Eric Gurley as New Executive Director

The Access Alaska Board of Directors has selected Eric L. Gurley as the new Executive Director. Gurley will lead the state’s largest independent living center, providing assistance to individuals who experience a disability and elder Alaskans to live independently in the community of their choice. Access Alaska is a statewide nonprofit agency that serves across the state with offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Soldotna, Wasilla, and Bethel.

Gurley has more than twenty-five years of experience working with organizations, most recently at Hope Community Resources in Anchorage, assisting individuals living with a disability. Seth Whitten, Access Alaska board president explains, “We are very fortunate and excited to have Eric leading our organization. His experience and skills will allow Access Alaska to continue to grow and meet the needs of our consumers.”

Access Alaska has recently restructured its operations to better meet the needs of its consumers and fiscal realities. The efforts of the staff have been excellent in streamlining and adjusting programs to enhance the opportunities and empower the staff and consumers. Gurley states, “I am thrilled with this opportunity and look forward to working with the staff and Board to continue the growth and success of Access Alaska.”

Gurley will begin as the Executive Director on Monday, July 29, 2019.
