The only “Big Four” accounting firm with a presence in Alaska, KPMG, promoted Jim Henderson to Audit Manager. His work includes a strong focus on federal single audits and the use of data in the audit process.

Henderson joined KPMG in 2022 and brings six years of audit experience, serving clients across state and local government, oil and gas, and power and utilities sectors. A Certified Public Accountant, Henderson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with majors in accounting and economics, from the University of Nevada, Reno. He also earned a master’s degree in accountancy there.

Born and raised in Alaska, Henderson grew up ski racing at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood and continues to give back by coaching youth alpine ski racing with the Alyeska Ski Club.

New Oil on the North Slope
August 2026
In mid-May it was 19°F and windy at the Aurora Hotel in Deadhorse. As I stood in the parking lot surveying the surroundings, I chatted with a gentleman from Texas who works for Nabors Alaska Drilling and was in town as part of a crew tasked with getting a previously inactive drill rig up and running. He said that, according to his supervisor, spring is the windy season on the North Slope. The gusts were bracing, numbing the fingers holding my camera, but most of my attention was focused on what I could capture through the lens: work trucks, shipping containers, buildings obscured by snow whipped up by the wind.
