Three New Radio Hosts on the Air at Alaska Public Media

Alaska Public Media added new hosts to three of its weekly local radio programs. They each bring a wealth of experience in healthcare, outdoor recreation, and Alaska living.

Dr. Anne Zink joins three other hosts in the rotating lineup for Line One: Your Health Connection. Zink was a frequent guest on the show in 2020 and 2021 when she was the State of Alaska’s chief medical officer during the COVID-19 pandemic. She stepped down from that position in April. An emergency physician at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, Zink has a special interest in using informatics and information to bring together public health and healthcare systems.
“Accessible, easy-to-understand health communication is vital because healthy people are the foundation of thriving communities,” Zink says. “It has been an honor to serve as Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer for the past five years, and as I transition roles, I’m excited to continue the conversations with Alaskans through Line One.”

Amy Bushatz

The rotation of hosts for Outdoor Explorer has included Amy Bushatz since April. The publisher of the Mat-Su Sentinel news website moved to from Kentucky to Palmer, sight-unseen, to pursue an outdoor-focused lifestyle after her husband left US Army active duty.
“After working in print journalism for more than two decades and producing a podcast for four years, stepping into public radio was a top goal,” Bushatz says. “That I get to do so by hosting a show about one of my favorite topics makes it that much better.”
An ultrarunner and ridge running enthusiast, Bushatz can often be found exploring public lands around the Matanuska-Susitna Borough by road running on bike paths, snowboarding at Skeetawk, cross-country skiing in Hatcher Pass, ice skating on Mat-Su lakes, paddleboarding or kayaking with her family, and camping out of her “ugly van.”
Kim Sherry

Added to the host rotation for Hometown, Alaska is Kim Sherry, the first Alaskan to appear as a contestant on The Great American Recipe on PBS. A fourth-generation Alaskan who grew up in King Salmon, Sherry is an artist who currently specializes in pet portraits. She has also written and illustrated two children’s books and owned a clothing business in Anchorage. Sherry is an avid gardener with a reverence for subsistence hunting and fishing.
“I’m so excited to be joining the Alaska Public Media family,” Sherry says. “I have been listening to and watching for over twenty years, so it is amazing to be part of it now.”
