Alaskan Brewers Win Crushie Awards for Branding

The logo, merchandise, packaging, and website for 49th State Brewing Company in Anchorage, designed by North Carolina-based Creature Theory, won a Gold Crushie for Best All-Around Marketing Story from the 2022 Craft Beer Marketing Awards.

The 2022 Craft Beer Marketing Awards recognized two Alaska breweries for their branding. Alaskan Brewing Company and 49th State Brewing won five awards.

Sharp-Dressed Cans 

Juneau-based Alaskan Brewing Company won a Platinum Crushie for best can design, a 12-ounce limited edition Island Ale illustrated with a puffin, courtesy of Launch Beverage Consulting of St. Louis. The same designer also earned Alaskan Brewing a Gold prize in the same category for a pilsner can decorated with a blue and green offroad Jeep.

Anchorage-based 49th State Brewing won three Gold Crushies in three different categories. One was for best 32-ounce “crowler” design, a white and gold cap can designed by Creature Theory of Wilmington, North Carolina. The same firm also teamed up with 49th State to produce printed “sell sheets,” which earned a Gold prize for best brand identity. The all-around marketing story, encompassing the logo, packaging, website, and merchandise, also earned Gold for 49th State and its designer.

The Craft Beer Marketing Awards was established in 2019 to give recognition to the best of the best in the marketing realm of the brewing industry.
