Maud Road Shooting Range open to the public

Jul 18, 2014 | Construction, Media & Arts

(Anchorage, AK) – The brand-new Maud Road Shooting Range located in the Knik River Public Use Area opened today to target shooting. The range, located at mile 2.6 of the Maud Road Extension, is open year round and will close every Wednesday for cleanup and maintenance.

This is the first phase of developing the shooting range, which will be expanded next year using an FY 2015 legislative appropriation. Next year’s improvements include widening the 40-foot by 100-yard range by an additional 60 feet to accommodate additional shooting lanes, installing an 80-foot by 25-yard pistol range and adding other range amenities.

To learn more about the range and its operating rules, or to find out more about the Knik River Public Use Area, call 269-8503 or go to http://www.knikriver.alaska.gov.

Also in this issue: learn more about the Chin’an Gaming Hall, USACE projects, the new Wildbirch Hotel, and the transportation and logistics of Girl Scout cookies. Enjoy!
