AIDEA Board Names New Executive Director – Alan Weitzner

The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) Board announced the appointment of Alan Weitzner as AIDEA Executive Director, effective August 5, 2020. Weitzner has served as Chief Investment Officer for the Authority since August 2018.

“We are pleased to announce that Alan Weitzner has accepted the position of Executive Director,” said AIDEA Board Chairman Dana Pruhs. “Alan is an experienced leader and a champion of economic development in Alaska, and in his nearly two years with AIDEA he has been a key asset to the Authority. We look forward to working with him and AIDEA’s talented executive team as we continue our partnership with Alaskans in advancing economic growth and diversification in our great state.”

Weitzner’s career has focused on the project finance and financial management of global infrastructure projects. He has advised and structured over $16 billion in debt underwritings, equity capitalizations, and project developments for energy, gas infrastructure, transmission, storage, and port/terminal facilities in the US, Europe, Australia, and the emerging markets.

Prior to joining AIDEA, Weitzner was the founder & managing director of Stakeholders Infrastructure, as well as having served in senior management positions with ABN AMRO Bank NV as part of its global leadership team in energy and infrastructure project finance, ABB Equity Ventures (ABB Ltd) as Head of Asia Pacific project development, and with an alternative asset investment advisory group managing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) based private equity infrastructure funds.

Weitzner holds a bachelor’s in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
