Mat-Su Borough Asks FERC to Reconsider Port MacKenzie for LNG Plant

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to redo the final environmental impact statement and reconsider its decision for the proposed Alaska LNG project, correcting what the borough alleges are factual errors and deficiencies that prevented fair consideration of municipally owned Port MacKenzie property for the gas liquefaction plant and marine terminal.

Public Meetings Slated for Draft Analyses of Two Proposals: Willow Development Plan & Ambler ‘Road to Resources’

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking feedback through public meetings and comments on the proposed Willow Master Development Plan and Ambler Mining District Industrial Access Road Draft Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), both of which the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) made available for public review and comment and published in the Federal Register.

USACE Releases Draft EIS for Pebble Project

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Pebble Project has been released by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Upon initial review, the Pebble Partnership (PLP) strongly believes it demonstrates that the proposed 20-year mine development plan for the Pebble deposit can be done in an environmentally responsible manner and that it points to a clear path forward for success in permitting the project.

“To date, only minimal drafts, and in most cases just outlines, of these plans have been provided, and/or the development of the plans have been deferred to a later date,” FERC said, referring to its past requests of AGDC for proposed mitigation plans for wildlife avoidance, marine mammal monitoring, vegetation and soils restoration, groundwater monitoring, and invasive plants.
