Right Moves with Gary Enloe

Matanuska Telephone Association (MTA) has promoted Gary Enloe to VP of Product Development and Commercial Solutions. In his new role, Enloe oversees all product development efforts, encompassing consumer, enterprise, and wholesale.

Enloe has been with MTA for over twenty-four years, starting in 1997 as a CO Installation and Repairman and the following year was promoted to CO Applications/Sales Engineer. In 2001, he moved up to Network Maintenance Engineer and by 2010 was promoted to Network Maintenance Engineer Supervisor. In 2017, Enloe moved into the Product Development Manager position and by May 2018 was serving as the Director of Product Development. He helped launch MTA’s Managed Wifi solution—totalWiFi—in that position.

“Gary’s years of experience and expertise with MTA will undoubtedly enhance the growing Product Development and Commercial Solutions team,” says MTA CEO Michael Burke. “His methodical and enthusiastic approach to problem solving is an asset we all benefit from. We are excited to welcome Gary to his next chapter at MTA and hope you will join us in congratulating him on this well-earned promotion.”

New Oil on the North Slope
August 2026
In mid-May it was 19°F and windy at the Aurora Hotel in Deadhorse. As I stood in the parking lot surveying the surroundings, I chatted with a gentleman from Texas who works for Nabors Alaska Drilling and was in town as part of a crew tasked with getting a previously inactive drill rig up and running. He said that, according to his supervisor, spring is the windy season on the North Slope. The gusts were bracing, numbing the fingers holding my camera, but most of my attention was focused on what I could capture through the lens: work trucks, shipping containers, buildings obscured by snow whipped up by the wind.
