Alaska Commercial Company Breaks Ground in Hoonah

Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is breaking ground for a new grocery store in Hoonah. Scheduled to open in early 2027, the new store will offer an assortment of grocery options with reliable access to fresh produce, meat, and other household essentials.

ACC President Kyle Hill says, “We are very proud to open our thirty-ninth store in Hoonah in 2027. We have been working with the Hoonah Indian Association for several years to add a second grocery store to Hoonah.”
ACC conducted an online survey in late 2025 to gather feedback from Hoonah residents about their shopping needs. Based on hundreds of responses, the company is designing the store to provide convenient year-round access to groceries while supporting the community’s increased retail needs during the tourism season.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Hoonah, the 4,800 square-foot facility will feature a modern design similar to other ACC stores in Southeast. Customers can expect to find a wide selection of food, including grab-and-go meal options, dry grocery products, assorted meats, produce, and a variety of club pack items.
The store will also serve as a gathering place for community events, promotions, and giveaways. ACC is committed to hiring locally and creating employment opportunities for Hoonah residents. The company will build strong local partnerships and support community programs through sponsorships, donations, and other fundraising initiatives.
Following the store’s opening, ACC will continue to evaluate customer needs and expand product offerings based on local feedback.
