Apr 9, 2024 | Nonprofits, Right Moves

Matt Waliszek | United Way of Anchorage

Greg Gallagher has joined United Way of Anchorage’s senior leadership team as Vice President of Philanthropy.

In this new position, Gallagher leads a team working to connect corporations, philanthropic organizations, and individual donors to impactful work in our community. Previously, Gallagher was United Way’s individual giving officer since 2022.

A graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Gallagher earned a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Gallagher has more than ten years of fundraising experience working for institutions such as Covenant House Alaska and UAA.

“I’ve lived and worked all over the country,” says Gallagher. “By far, Anchorage is the city where I’ve found the greatest solidarity among citizens. I’m humbled by the opportunity to continue serving this community and honored to rally with United Way supporters to help our neighbors who need us most.”

Gallagher lives in Anchorage with his wife and two sons.

In our first issue of 2026, we are again featuring two special sections: Junior Achievement of Alaska and Industry Support.

We’re honored again this year to celebrate our partnership with Junior Achievement of Alaska, a nonprofit that educates local youth about enterprise, business, money, and financial literacy. In the special section, three Junior Achievement of Alaska students weigh in on their experience with the exceptional volunteers and teachers involved with the program.

And in Industry Support, we explore the range of varied services that industry in Alaska requires, from mancamps to spill response to off-grid energy solutions.

Outside the special sections, make sure to check out the 2026 Economic forecast, where Alaska leaders share their insights on what may lie ahead in the coming year. Enjoy!
