Alaska Heart and Vascular Institute

Alaska Heart and Vascular Institute (AHVI) added Dr. Jasleen Tiwana to its team of physicians. As a highly skilled Interventional Cardiologist, Tiwana specializes in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease, particularly in the management of chronically occluded coronary arteries.

Tiwana’s impressive background includes a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from the University of Washington. She earned her MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine and had extensive training in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. She is board-certified in those areas with an additional certification in adult comprehensive echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography.

Her advanced fellowship training at the University of Washington equips her with state-of-the-art techniques to address even the most challenging cardiac cases.

The AHVI executive committee released a statement saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tiwana, interventional cardiologist, to our practice. Her expertise and dedication align perfectly with our mission to provide the highest standard of care to our community.”

Alaska Native regional, village, and urban corporations operate in every industry all around the state, often in regions that don’t attract attention from other corporations. Our cover story for December 2025 is an excellent example, as it covers the investment Aleut is making in its region, Unangam Tanangin, or the Aleutian Islands, which stretch 1,000 miles into the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean. The Alaska Native special section also visits Kodiak and the handful of corporations benefiting that region, and looks back over fifty years of ANCSA corporation history and how the corporations have built, maintained, and strengthened communications and relationships with their shareholders.
