Murkowski Announces the Addition of New Staff and Fellows
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced the addition of four new fellows and one new staff member to her office in Washington D.C.
“As I continue to work for Alaska, I am proud to have the support of dedicated and hard-working staff. I am excited to have these news faces who bring fresh energy and an enthusiasm for service,” Senator Murkowski said. “I am confident that their knowledge, understanding, and experience will have a positive impact on Alaskans. Having these bright individuals as a part of my team will be particularly beneficial in helping navigate the unique challenged we face throughout the state.”
Ben Mallott

Ben Mallott is the new Legislative Assistant for Alaska Native and Indian Affairs. Mallott was born and raised in Juneau and is of both Tlingit and Athabascan descent. He was previously the Vice President of the Alaska Federation of Natives and has served as the Arctic Athabascan Council representative to the Arctic Economic Council and Arctic Council. He received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Oregon State University and is currently finishing his Masters in Public Administration and Policy at American University.
Dr. Jeremy Mathis joins the office as a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fellow, who will primarily focus on Arctic policy and environmental change. Dr. Mathis is on loan to the Senator’s office from NOAA where he served as Director of the Arctic Research Program. He was previously a Professor of Oceanography in the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he founded the Alaska Ocean Acidification Research Center.

Greg Farrell

United States Air Force Major Greg Farrell is the 2018 Defense Legislative Fellow in Senator Murkowski’s office. Major Farrell is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School and a senior pilot with more than 1,300 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, F-16, and F-35A. Major Farrell has flown combat missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Odyssey Dawn. He previously served as an F-35 Operational Test and Evaluation Instructor Pilot at Nellis AFB, NV.
Ann Robertson is the 2018 NOAA Sea Grant Fellow in Senator Murkowski’s Office. Hailing from Juneau, she recently completed her Masters of Environmental Management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, where she focused on fisheries, marine policy, and Arctic issues.

Emily Lohman

Emily Lohman is a second year law student at Willamette University College of Law, who joined Senator Murkowski’s office through her law school’s extern program. At Willamette, Ms. Lohman is Vice President of the Women’s Law Caucus, a source editor for the Environmental Law Journal, and incoming Editor of Willamette Law Online.
