Peter Pan Seafood Offers All-Time High Prices for Sockeye and Kings

May 24, 2021 | Fisheries, News

At the close of the fishery May 20, New Peter Pan Seafood had pushed the price to $12.60 per pound for sockeye and $19.60 per pound for kings.

Peter Pan Vice President of Operations Jon Hickman says that this is an all-time high price for both species out of the Copper River Flats by any major Alaska producer to the best of his recollection.

Leaders at Peter Pan are looking forward to being a foundation for all fishermen, communities and the market. Peter Pan Seafood is committed to the fishermen and the resource and are firm believers that they have the ability, on this highly coveted early Copper River fish, to offer these prices because of the company’s deep market penetration and value-added philosophy into niche markets when limited supply of this amazing resource is made available.

Under new ownership this season, Peter Pan has committed to providing the best service and support possible to its fleet. These strong prices are evidence of that commitment.

New Oil on the North Slope
August 2026
In mid-May it was 19°F and windy at the Aurora Hotel in Deadhorse. As I stood in the parking lot surveying the surroundings, I chatted with a gentleman from Texas who works for Nabors Alaska Drilling and was in town as part of a crew tasked with getting a previously inactive drill rig up and running. He said that, according to his supervisor, spring is the windy season on the North Slope. The gusts were bracing, numbing the fingers holding my camera, but most of my attention was focused on what I could capture through the lens: work trucks, shipping containers, buildings obscured by snow whipped up by the wind.
