A new generation of talent is strengthening Nortech—an environmental, energy, health, and safety services firm with offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau—with the addition of an early-career environmental professional and a marketing assistant.

Megan Smoot

Megan Smoot brings fresh expertise in environmental science and fieldwork. Smoot is finishing her first year as an Environmental Professional at Nortech’s Anchorage office. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Wheaton College in Illinois and a certificate in human needs and global resources. Smoot conducted research on regenerative soil management in Eastern Africa, gaining experience in project planning and fieldwork. Smoot is a state-qualified environmental professional and holds hazardous waste operations, mine safety, and building inspector certifications.

Madison “MJ” Johnson supports the firm’s outreach and business development efforts. Johnson joined Nortech in 2025 as a Marketing Assistant, bringing a background in branding, communications, and project coordination. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With experience in social media management and marketing strategy, Johnson supports Nortech’s branding initiatives, business development, and proposal strategies. She is passionate about highlighting the people behind the scenes and strengthening connections with clients and communities across Alaska.
