Doyon Foundation Selects New Executive Director

A former recipient of a college scholarship from the Doyon Foundation is now the nonprofit’s Executive Director. Doyon Foundation and Doyon, Limited selected Geraldine “Geri” Simon to lead the charitable affiliate of the Interior region Alaska Native corporation.
Simon is a Doyon shareholder from Allakaket. Simon attended UAF and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington. She earned her JD from Seattle University School of Law.
“This is an exciting opportunity,” says Simon, “and I look forward to implementing the Foundation Board’s vision to focus on workforce development and Alaska Native language revitalization and especially harnessing the energy and enthusiasm of the next generation coming up.”
Foundation Board President Benjamin Schwartz says Simon was chosen after an extensive recruitment and selection process. “We are excited to welcome Geri as the Foundation’s next Executive Director. Her leadership will be instrumental in carrying forward the Foundation’s mission, strengthening the organization, and, most importantly, creating opportunities for Doyon shareholders and communities to succeed,” says Schwartz.
