Alutiiq Museum Names Marlise Lee as Gallery Coordinator

Mar 5, 2019 | Alaska Native, Education, Media & Arts, Right Moves, Tourism

The Alutiiq Museum has named Marlise Lee as Gallery Coordinator. Lee develops events, stocks the museum’s store, and leads advertising. She joined the Alutiiq Museum in summer 2018.

A photographer and graphic designer, Lee earned a BA in fine arts from the University of Colorado and has worked all over the world. She has lived in Bolivia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Although her background is in art, both of Marlise’s parents are archaeologists and she is no stranger to field and laboratory work.

“I grew up with a deep respect for Native cultures and loved learning as much as I could about the prehistory of our region. I worked as an archaeology intern in St. John and share what we knew about the Taino culture with visitors to the island.”

At the Alutiiq Museum, Marlise is currently working to connect with artists.
