EasyPark Offers Free Garage Parking for Purple Heart Recipients

ANCHORAGE—EasyPark announced 6th & H, 7th & G and 5th & B parking garages purple level (2nd floor) will have dedicated parking spaces for recipients of the Purple Heart medal and preferred parking spaces will be donated to those recipients.

“When we were first approached with the idea of Purple Heart parking in support of Anchorage as a Purple Heart City, we reviewed what other cities have done and knew that we wanted to elevate and memorialize the veteran’s sacrifice and combat decoration,” said Chris Kersbergen, Operations Manager for EasyPark who oversees on street parking and daily parking in the parking garages.

ACDA staff met with members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and reviewed downtown parking and visual options. “We knew we needed to capture something more visual to tell the story of the combat veteran’s sacrifice and we came up with the idea of branding all of our purple levels of the parking garages,” said Melinda Gant, PR and Development Manager for ACDA.

“The ACDA team actually exceeded my expectations. What they developed will not only provide some free parking for Purple Heart Recipients, it will also give visual recognition for those who were awarded the Purple Heart,” said Ron Siebels of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Anchorage Chapter 593.

Those who are interested in participating in the Purple Heart Parking program will need to contact our Customer Service at 276-7275 or info@easyparkalaska.com. Registration and verification will be required to begin the Purple Heart Parking program in EasyPark’s parking garages.
