Ryan York, BBNC’s former CFO, succeeds Scott Torrison as COO. Torrison will retire next May after eighteen years of service to the corporation. The two have begun working closely to ensure a smooth transition and will continue collaborating until Torrison’s departure. York retains the title of Executive Vice President.
York studied management information systems at Oregon Institute of Technology and began his career as a tax and assurance supervisor at KPMG. He worked for Cook Inlet Region, Inc. and NANA Development Corporation before joining BBNC in 2014 as vice president of finance.

To take on York’s role as CFO, BBNC is bringing in Logan Birch as a new Senior Vice President. Birch most recently served as president and CEO of Alaska Growth Capital. The commercial lender was formerly held by Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, where Birch was previously CFO of its ASRC Energy Services subsidiary. He was leading Alaska Growth Capital when it was sold to McKinley Management in 2022, and BBNC bought in as a minority partner. BBNC upped its stake in January 2025 as a majority owner. Birch is working with York over the coming months to transition responsibilities.
Birch studied economics at the University of Washington. He spent ten years at Wells Fargo in Anchorage in commercial banking and real estate. He is also an owner of Knik Sweeping, a specialty street-sweeping contractor he acquired when the owner retired, and of Tutka Capital, his personal investment and consulting company.
