Yupiit Grant Services (YGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Akiak Native Community, promoted Sheila Carl to President. In this new role, Carl is responsible for all day-to-day operations and staff, client development, service delivery, and financial performance.

Carl, who is Yup’ik and a tribal member of Akiak Native Community, worked as the Tribal Administrator for more than sixteen years. Carl joined Yupiit Grant Services two years ago as the company’s Director, responsible for defining the company’s core grant lifecycle management support business line and acquiring its first clients.

“This promotion is a direct result of excellent leadership and diligent work on behalf of our Tribal and nonprofit clients,” says Sharon Hamer, president of Akiak Technology and co-founder of YGS’ parent company Akiak Holdings. “Sheila Carl will work with me and our Board of Directors to grow the business as the premier grant management support company in the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska, and beyond.”

YGS provides flexible, full lifecycle grant management for tribes and nonprofit organizations, which rely on grant funding for basic infrastructure, operations, and services. “As a Tribal Administrator for over sixteen years, I understand the limited resources tribes have to meet their high-priority needs for the Tribal communities,” says Carl. “YGS can assist them in getting, keeping, managing, and closing out their grant programs and, more importantly, stay compliant.”
