Amid a rising tide of new carwash options coming to Anchorage, national chain Tommy’s Express Car Wash has begun construction on its first location in Alaska.

Tunnel of Suds

Cadence General Contractors is building the signature wash tunnel at 1850 Abbott Road, where Rae Rae’s Coffee Shop used to be.

The wash tunnel is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows along the entire length and a transparent roof, making it open, bright, and inviting.

Customers can expect a three-minute travel down the car wash tunnel. The site will also feature free floor mat washers and vacuum stations.

“Tommy’s Express represents the best the car wash the industry has to offer, from our commitment to customer experience to the custom, proprietary equipment we pioneered to give you the finest car wash result possible,” says company president Ryan Essenburg. “We are excited to expand our footprint into a new state and look forward to serving the community of Anchorage.”

Tommy’s Express is one of the fastest-growing national franchises. Each carwash is built around the Totally Tommy model initially developed by Tommy Car Wash Systems. More than 169 franchise locations across the US are supported with training, marketing, and technical assistance and enjoy access to proprietary, franchise-exclusive developments in wash products and technology.

The Anchorage location should be ready to operate in time for spring break-up in 2024.

TommyClub unlimited wash memberships will be available for purchase via the Tommy’s Express app leading up to the site’s grand opening, allowing member vehicles to automatically be admitted to the wash via a proprietary license plate reader system. Unlimited Club members can wash as often as they wish at any location for as little as $22.00 per month.
