Rural Alaska Community Action Program Names New Chief Financial Officer

Rural Alaska Community Action Program (RurAL CAP) hired John Stackhouse to be the nonprofit’s Chief Financial Officer.

Stackhouse was previously the director of finance at Covenant House. He also worked as the business manager for the Yupiit School District in Akiachak for four years before relocating to Anchorage in 2021.

Stackhouse served in the US Navy for twenty-four years and retired as a chief petty officer. He earned master’s degrees in business administration and management from the University of Maryland.

“We are excited to have someone with John’s background and expertise joining our team,” says RurAL CAP’s CEO Tiel Smith.

RurAL CAP is a statewide nonprofit organization founded in 1965 to empower low-income Alaskans through advocacy, education, affordable housing, and direct services.
