The top financial security professional in Alaska is Yoshi Ogawa from the Alaska General Office of New York Life. Forbes lists Ogawa among its Top Financial Security Professionals Best-in-State for 2022 based on criteria considered by an independent research firm.

A Valuable Asset

Ogawa is a certified financial planner, accredited estate planner, chartered advisor in philanthropy, charter financial consultant, chartered life underwriter, and he serves on the board of the Anchorage Estate Planning Council. He received a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in financial services from The American College, a private online university headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Ogawa has been a New York Life agent for fifteen years. He manages $118 million in total policies, with clients ranging from $250,000 to $3 million.

“We are honored that Yoshi Ogawa appears on this prestigious list,” says Jason Metzger, managing partner of the Alaska General Office. “New York Life has known for quite some time what a valuable asset Yoshi Ogawa has been to our family and to many families and businesses in our community.”

Among hundreds of professionals licensed to sell life insurance and annuities, the list includes just two others in Alaska, Tatiana Lott and Nathan McKay Sr., both from New York Life as well.

The Top Financial Security Professional rankings are determined by SHOOK Research. The ranking algorithm is based on qualitative measures learned through telephone, virtual, and in-person interviews to measure best practices, client retention, industry experience, credentials, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, such as assets under management, sales figures, and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and these professionals rarely have audited performance reports.
