May 26, 2022 | Engineering, Right Moves

Cody Beckes recently joined R&M Consultants as a Project Engineer in the firm’s Surface Transportation Group. In this role, Beckes oversees and performs analysis and design tasks related to road and highway projects.

“We strive to hire motivated, technically strong, passionate, and team-orientated individuals to help us deliver quality projects and service to our clients,” says Lance DeBernardi, group manager of surface transportation. “Cody fits right into that dynamic and we are very excited to have him as part of our team.”

Beckes has ten years of engineering experience on small- and large-scale road improvement projects. He has been involved with design, inspection, analysis, and public involvement, as well as field and office survey work. Beckes prides himself on attention to detail and developing cost-efficient designs. His responsibilities have included grading, utilities, materials cost estimations, on-site inspections, building permit applications, and soil testing.

Beckes has been involved with numerous road improvement projects in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, such as Ingra and Gambell paving and C Street at 20th drainage improvements.

“I enjoy designing projects and then getting a positive feeling once its constructed, when driving by and seeing it completed, that I was involved in improving this road, pedestrian facility or subdivision,” Beckes says. “It’s fulfilling to have a hand in bettering your community.”

Beckes keeps busy ferrying his kids to their sports activities, baseball in the summer, and hockey and skiing in winter. He also coaches his son’s hockey team and enjoys biking, hiking, golfing, brewing beer, and home remodeling projects. He is originally from Minnesota and moved to Alaska after college for the natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities Alaska offers.
