ANCHORAGE—Blood Bank of Alaska opens the first Juneau blood collection center. The blood donated by Alaskan blood donors supports hospitals across the state including military and Alaska Native facilities. The new center is located at 8800 Glacier Hwy #236 in Juneau.

“We have a long standing relationship with the Juneau community and are very excited to be a permanent part of the neighborhood. We are grateful for the support of the many Juneau donors who are dedicated to saving lives,” said Chris Mello, Blood Bank of Alaska Board Chair.

Donors can schedule donation appointments by calling 907-222-5630 and visiting bloodbankofalaska.org.

Over 15,000 Alaskans donate blood each year to help fellow community members. This helps a range of patients from those fighting leukemia and other cancers to trauma victims and mothers that suffer complications during child birth. Approximately 700 donors must donate every week to maintain the blood supply in Alaska.
