Carl Hall Joins R&M as Senior Project Engineer

Carl Hall recently joined R&M CONSULTANTS as a Senior Project Engineer in the firm’s Site Development Group. Hall is responsible for overseeing and performing analysis and design tasks related to site development projects. He also assists in the development of site design analysis and site layout plans, including grading, drainage, utility services, and roadway infrastructure connections in accordance with the appropriate design standards for a variety of sites in urban and rural locations throughout Alaska.

“Carl brings extensive engineering experience to R&M,” says Nicole Knox, R&M’s Group Manager of Site Development. “He has worked on a wide range of projects, from schools and health care to military and industrial facilities. We’re excited to have him join our Site Development Group and continue to provide great engineering design solutions for Alaska.”

Hall has more than twenty-five years of experience in all aspects of planning, civil design, permitting, and construction. He has provided civil design for a variety of site layout, grading, utility, and roadway projects and is experienced in grading, storm drainage, erosion protection, fire protection, and water and wastewater design with considerations of freeze protection requirements. Hall is also experienced with incorporating Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) concepts and components into design. He is a forward-thinking professional committed to providing high-quality products with a focus on completing project deliverables.

Hall has served as the lead designer for a wide range of projects throughout Alaska, including housing, medical centers, schools, recreation facilities, bridges, docks and harbors, and other public facilities. He managed the Whittier Tunnel Surface and Drainage Improvements project, which included various studies that included as-built/topographic studies of the tunnel, LiDAR and ground penetrating radar scanning of the invert panels, surface drainage and rock investigations, tights analysis, corrosion studies, and structure evaluations. Hall’s other project experience includes several projects in Midway Atoll, including right-sizing a potable water system and a sanitary sewer alternatives analysis.

Since joining R&M, Hall has assisted with proposal efforts and has provided civil design for a net-zero ready, multi-purpose facility in Wainwright; a building expansion and renovation of a health care facility in midtown Anchorage; and an indoor baseball facility for Gamers Baseball Alaska.

“I enjoyed my work but was ready for a different pasture,” says Hall. “R&M is a place that I can still do the work I love, in Alaska, but experience something new with different projects and clients.”

Hall has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah and is a Professional Civil Engineer licensed in Alaska. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In his free time, Hall enjoys camping and hunting, with his favorite being black and brown bear hunts. He also hunts for moose and caribou and enjoys pike fishing.
