Nov 3, 2021 | Alaska Native, Right Moves

Right Moves with Miriam Aarons

The new face of Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is Miriam Aarons, promoted from senior director of media and marketing to Vice President of Corporate Communications. In her new role on the executive leadership team, Aarons will continue to lead and grow BSNC’s communications and marketing initiatives.

Aarons is Inupiaq and an enrolled tribal member of the Native Village of Unalakleet, the daughter of Dr. Charlie Aarons and the late Martha Anagick Aarons. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in international relations from Columbia University.

Already one of the 8,000 shareholders of BSNC—the regional corporation for Norton Sound, Seward Peninsula, and northern Bering Sea islands—Aarons started working for the corporation in 2012. During her nine-year tenure, Aarons spearheaded the transformation of BSNC’s communications efforts with shareholders, advanced internal and external communications, served as the primary contact for all media and community engagement, highlighted BSNC’s 8(a) capabilities and developed BSNC’s internship program.
