Freight for Less, one of the most popular perks for Alaska Airlines Club 49 members, is back. Starting September 1, Alaskans can ship up to 100 pounds of freight through Alaska Air Cargo to communities across Alaska.

“Our Air Cargo operations are a lifeline to 20 communities across Alaska,” says Marilyn Romano, regional vice president. “We know that Freight for Less is very popular with our Club 49 members and with our freighters back at max capacity, we can meet the needs of Alaska residents, particularly in some of our rural parts of the state.”

Freight for Less was paused in late 2019, while repairs were made to barrier walls in the Alaska Air Cargo’s 737 freighter fleet. Repairs were completed allowing for the relaunch of the program.

The program is being streamlined with simplified pricing, making it easier for Club 49 members to quickly ship freight any time of the year. A dedicated counter at the Alaska Air Cargo warehouse in Anchorage will make it easier for members to ship.

Club 49 is an exclusive program for Alaska residents, with benefits including two free checked bags to or from Alaska, two Travel Now discount codes annually, weekly fare sales for Alaskans and the ability to ship up to 100 pounds through Freight for Less for $49, plus tax.
