Alaska Construction Industry Fun Facts
Members
The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally changed how contractors performed their essential work amidst ever-changing local and state orders, mandates, and protocols. AGC’s staff, Legislative Affairs Committee, governing board, and lobbyist work diligently with our members to advocate for priority legislation and policies at the state and local level to support the industry’s ability to carry out work safely. We work with elected officials to ensure contractors have a voice in the industry’s decisions.
Throughout the pandemic, AGC informed our members of the latest news, regulations, and resources available via AGC’s COVID-resource database on our website and through social media channels and e-Newsletters. We represented the construction industry’s voice at the local, state, and federal levels while advocating for the interests of our organization’s legislative priorities. The pandemic accelerated our efforts in all areas of our mission of advocating, educating, and promoting our members and Alaska’s construction industry. AGC helped shape the parameters of the national infrastructure bill poised to bring Alaska millions of dollars in federal funding.
At the local level, we were the first group to expand learning opportunities to our audience in a more convenient and virtualmanner. AGC has consistently promoted the message that construction is essential, which has become a state/nationwide workforce development campaign.
Membership with AGC of Alaska is your “in” to Alaska’s vast construction industry network. It is the best possible way to ensure that your voice is heard on the numerous issues affecting your daily construction-related business activities.”
– Clare Kreilkamp, Membership Director AGC of Alaska
“As a rural based contractor, I was hesitant to join AGC. I thought “ we were too small, too far out in rural Alaska, and the cost would be too prohibitive for AGC to have an impact. I was wrong on all accounts! AGC of Alaska benefits all Alaskan companies’ union or non-union, rural or urban based, small or large. Whether it’s taking advantage of the many classes that are offered, enrolling in the 401K program, or networking, AGC’s benefits are far and wide.”
