Alaska Pacific University offers an education experience unlike any other—one that blends Western academic traditions with Indigenous Ways of Knowing and culture.

With small class sizes, your professors don’t just recognize you, they support and mentor you. And because our learning is hands-on and rooted in place, you won’t be confined to a classroom. At APU, you’ll take what you learn and put it into practice in real communities, real environments, and real experiences.

APU’s campus is located on the traditional homelands of the Dena’ina people in Anchorage, Alaska. Surrounded by forest and connected to the city by an extensive trail system, campus is both a place of learning and an outdoor playground.

Beyond adventure and recreation, APU’s campuses are dedicated to enriching the mind. Our facilities include a state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Laboratory, an Aquarium Biology Laboratory, and the Fisheries, Aquatic Science, and Technology Laboratory. Our Kellogg Campus in Palmer also has a working farm and the FIELD School, where APU students design and teach place-based curriculum to homeschooled children.

Scholarship Opportunities
APU offers thousands of dollars in scholarships for prospective students.
Whether you already have a specific interest or are still exploring your academic path, there’s likely a scholarship that fits your goals. Our financial aid options include the Promise Tuition Grant, merit-based awards, residency-based scholarships, and a convenient OneApp that allows students to apply for a wide range of donor-funded scholarships with a single application. Together, these resources help make an APU education accessible and affordable for all students.
Majors & Programs

APU offers a wide range of academic pathways, from certificates to doctoral programs. Many courses are available both in-person and online, giving you the flexibility to learn when and where it works best for you.

Our broad selection of degrees and certificates allows students to explore future career paths through hands-on projects, internships, and close connections with faculty. Programs are intentionally designed to be stackable—meaning a certificate can count toward an associate’s degree, which can then build toward a bachelor’s, and beyond. This structure supports long-term educational growth and helps students advance at a pace that fits their goals and lives.

A Self-Determined Alaska Native University
APU is a gathering place where Alaska Native knowledge leads, all students belong, and culture and innovation come together to grow courageous leaders for the next seven generations.

Founded by Peter Gordon Gould, an Unangax̂ leader from the village of Unga, APU was built on the vision of creating an Alaska Native college that educates Indigenous and Alaskan students here in Alaska, for Alaska.

Students can expect an education that honors both traditional ways of knowing and western academic approaches. APU is committed to being a place where Alaska Native and Indigenous students thrive, while also fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students from all backgrounds. All students benefit from Indigenous worldviews woven throughout academics, campus life, and community, resulting in a richer, more connected, and more meaningful learning experience.
