Unions
Among the industries and workers Alaska’s unions represent are service contract workers, transit workers, plumbers and pipefitters, tourism industry workers, oil and gas workers, and pipeline maintenance workers. Many Alaskan unions also operate under cooperative agreements with the state’s Alaska Native workers. The Alaska Business Unions Directory lists unions from all industries statewide.

In the midst of the uncertainty, those companies that crumbled and those that found ways to thrive seemed random at times, depending on local economies, access to financial aid, the unpredictability of consumers, changing regulations, and a little bit of “who knows.”
