EVENT UA Statewide AI Symposium
University of Alaska

Join University of Alaska professors as they host a three-day symposium focusing on AI in Alaska. The statewide symposium will begin with an analysis by civic leaders, local teachers, and nonprofit and business representatives who will discuss how AI is shaping their sectors, including the Municipality of Anchorage’s chief innovation officer and a rep from the Anchorage School District. A student and faculty innovation showcase will follow, along with a panel on community engagement and workforce development. Friday’s programming will wrap up with a keynote address by Bryan Alexander, a national futurist and higher education writer whose focus is AI’s trajectory and what it means for Alaska. Saturday’s sessions are open to the UA community and will focus on UA-specific questions, including teaching, research funding, and information security. Sunday will close with a strategy session for the UA statewide AI advisory council.
