The 2024 College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) Showcase is all about AI. For its showcase, the college has invited experts from industry, government, and research who are pioneering AI. Attendees can meet Aurora robot dog from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities and learn about digital twins modernizing Cordova’s electrical grid with Clay Koplin, CEO of Cordova Electric Cooperative. They can also hear US Air Force Chief Scientist Victoria Coleman discuss AI-piloted F-16 fighters and see Walmart’s virtual reality employee training revolution led by Andy Trainor. Discover UAA College of Arts and Sciences’ Eric Bortz’s work in AI genomics for biosecurity and meet CBPP students from the AI with Business Applications class showcasing their innovative projects.
Also at the showcase, a series of thirty-minute sessions will exhibit different uses of AI in various fields. Attendees can visit the Alaska Data Science and AI Lab (ADSAIL) and experience cutting-edge technology; try out the Hololens 2, VR, or eye tracking devices, and take on the CBPP chess robot for a game; accept the AI Showcase Challenge to solve the Seawolf puzzle using a Hololens (the fastest to solve the puzzle during the showcase wins!); mingle and network while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres with wine, beer, or cider; enjoy a dedicated networking space in the Spine; talk with faculty, Dean’s Advisory Board members, alumni, and other UAA dignitaries; or bid on select items in the silent auction. This is an event for adults 21 years of age and older.
A portion of each $50 ticket will be donated to support CBPP student programs and scholarships.
