At Alaska Business, we are aware of many business and community events taking place around the state. So below we're happy to provide our readers with as much information as we can about statewide plays, festivals, fundraisers, workshops, lectures, debates, conferences, conventions, business meetings, and whatever else may pique our interest—or yours.
Because of public efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and following the guidance of national and local leaders, many events are cancelled, postponed, or revamped for online attendance; we are keeping this calendar updated as we are made aware of changes.

As efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 are ongoing, please follow the health and safety advice of local leaders, including wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing; be conscientious and prioritize your safety and the safety of others.

The STRIVE Group

Ten years ago, a few were doing it. A few years ago, more were doing it. Today, many are doing it. Working remotely has quickly become common place and while some businesses are approaching it with caution, others see it as a much overdo cost-effective strategy for success and profitability. The challenge, of course, lies with managers as they need to ensure their teams have the right tools to enable productivity and performance.

The STRIVE Group can help!

Broken into easily digestible moments, this two-hour online session guides the participants through the various hardware and software considerations designed to enable effective remote work. Through engaging discussion and interactive learning, the instructor showcases the basics but also explores specific tools that encourage ideation, collaboration, efficiencies and engagement.

Learning Objectives:

-Identify hardware and software that support untethered work activities
-Select the right chat, video conferencing and file sharing apps that foster communication between team members

This class is conducted live online via video conference with effective, takeaway segments designed for engaging, interactive learning.

In addition to twelve regional corporations, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) allocated lands and funds to more than 200 village corporations. As with their regional counterparts, the village corporations are mandated to make a profit and use it to benefit their shareholders and villages. It’s no surprise that, among hundreds of corporations, no two have chosen the exact same path to meet that mandate. Below are highlights and updates for a handful of the village and urban corporations.
